Meet our staff:

Owner:

Sue Anderson bought the studio this summer and has hit the ground running! Working as a software engineer by day at Arinc in Annapolis, Sue runs the studio every weeknight and on weekends. She strives to keep a comfortable atmosphere and provide quality dance instruction to our area's dancers. Alongside her, you will often see Sue's assistant, Stephanie-her daughter who has been taking dance at this studio, with its previous owners, for over 10 years. Sue is very excited and determined to help ADF live up to its true potential!

Manager:

Candace McPherson holds a degree in Dance and Media from Marymount Manhattan College & Power Pilates Mat Certification. She managed and taught full-time here at ADF when it was under its prior ownership for its 2005-2006 season. Now working as Client Relations and Internal Marketing Manager for a health club in Annapolis, Candace is glad to be back & enjoys her time managing and teaching two nights a week here at the studio. She looks forward to this year with enthusiasm and encouragement for all the students to enjoy their time here as we grow together another year dancing!


Teachers:

Lauren Angel graduated with honors from the University Of Oklahoma School Of Dance with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance. As a scholarship student at the University of Oklahoma, she performed a range of diverse roles with the Oklahoma Festival Ballet and explored her interest in dance writing as the School of Dance Publicity Writer. Lauren then spent two seasons performing as an apprentice with Charleston Ballet Theatre in Charleston, SC. In Charleston, Lauren also enjoyed playing Engel in the show Cabaret Kiki. Originally from Huntington, West Virginia, Lauren has also trained on scholarship at a variety of summer programs and with Mrs. Ella Hay of the Art Center School of Dance. This year she is very excited to become an apprentice with Maryland Ballet Theatre and to join the teaching staff of the Annapolis Dance Factory.

Stefanie Arnold is 20 years old and has just begun her first year teaching at ADF. Stefanie has received dance training from Barbara Stewarts School of dance, Starlight Express, Recreation and Parks, Edna Lee Dance Studio & Dancers Dreams Dance Studio in all types of dance but mostly focuses on lyrical. Stefanie is a full-time employee at The Anne Arundel County Board of Elections in Glen Burnie and spends her Monday and Tuesday nights teaching ballet, tap, jazz & lyrical. She danced 4 years at Northeast High School with the dance company and upon graduation in 2005, was asked to come back as a choreographer for 2 years. In winter 2004, Stefanie suffered an injury to her hamstring, but after a full recovery she is ready to share her talents with Annapolis Dance Factory. She is looking forward to the upcoming year & wants to wish all dancers, parents, fellow teachers and of course Sue, a wonderful dance year.

Dominique Fantasia is currently a student at Anne Arundel Community College working towards her degree in Dance. She was recently featured as a dancer in Laurieann Gibson's first single, "Addicted." Over the summer of 2007, she was a member of Jamile McGee's (3rd finalist of 2005 "So you think you can dance?" ) hip-hop company. Dominique has been trained in modern, jazz, lyrical, tap, african, and hip-hop. Her specialties are in modern and hip-hop. She has performed and trained with DC Showbiz and AACC Dance Company. In high school, she was a part of Broadneck High School's Dance Company. Dominique is beginning her first year of Annapolis Dance Factory and is very excited.

Miranda Ford is a twenty-three year old native of Annapolis who has been dancing for twenty years. She began dancing at age three at this very location when it was Kathleen's Dance Studio. By the time she was fourteen the studio switched owners and became American Dance and Fitness. She then became a dance teacher, after years of being an assistant and student teacher. She graduated from Annapolis Senior High School in 2002 & now holds a B.S. in Sociology from Bowie State. She is looking forward to having a bright and success dance year here at Annapolis Dance Factory.

Sara Johnson has 14 years of dance training from various studios and has four years experience as a member and choreographer for her high school's dance troupe. She is currently a member of the Villa Julie College Dance Team. She also has experience in theater from participating in high school musical productions. Sara has been a cast member of the following plays: Guys and Dolls, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, and Grease. She is thrilled to be teaching at Annapolis Dance Factory!

Pilar Jones has been working with children for close to 20 years and has been teaching preschool for 14 years. She is currently the Music teacher at Creative Beginnings Pre-School and Kindergarten on College Parkway where she directs music concerts twice a year. Pilar runs summer arts camps at both Creative Beginnings and here at ADF. She is a member, along with her daughter and ADF's manager, Candace, of a contemporary Christian singing group called HISong and recently co-wrote a musical.

David McAlister began dancing in high school under the direction of Ginny Siano and the mentorship of Joe Merck at Foothills Dance Conservatory. Following graduation he attended North Carolina School of the Arts where he trained under Nina Danilova, Warren Conover, and Kee-Juan Han, among others. Mr. McAlister then spent his first professional season with Cedar Lake II. There he was able to tour and perform various contemporary pieces and work closely with the gifted choreographers, teachers, and dancers of Cedar Lake. He spent the following two seasons as a member of Charleston Ballet Theatre in Charleston, SC. There he was able to perform in Balanchine's Who Cares and Twyla Tharp's Baker's Dozen. He also appeared in Jill Bahr's Rite of Spring and as an Ugly Stepsister in her Cinderella. This season David is very pleased to join the Ballet Theatre of Maryland and to become a teacher with the Annapolis Dance Factory.

Stacey Smith Borg is married with 3 children, resides in Arnold where she volunteers at her daughters' school and the community association, and has extensive experience in the field of fitness instruction. Having been a personal trainer for 2 years and an aerobics instructor for 6 years, she has experience in Senior Aerobics as well. She has 4 years Cheerleading coaching and 3 years of gymnastics instruction.

Ondrea Ward has been a dance instructor at three different Churches for five years, having briefly studied Ballet at Coppin State University. She taught hip-hop for the YMCA at Robert W. Coleman Elementary School for two years & instructed Tumble Tots and Intermediate Gymnastics with Recs and Park this past Fall Semester, 2007. Every summer for the past four years she has choreographed dances for Recs and Park for their end-of-the-summer productions.
